In the third session of the Assembly of Mayors of Iranian metropolises
The First Vice President said: we are witnessing crowds in the public transportation network, and to solve this problem, the number of buses and intercity trains should be increased.”
According to Mehr, Ishaq Jahangiri emphasized in this meeting: All officials, especially the mayors of metropolises, should serve the people with seriousness, spirit, and strong motivation in the difficult conditions of sanctions and the Corona pandemic.
Referring to the main agenda of the meeting on removing administrative barriers to providing resources for the development of public transport development in metropolitan areas, he said: “During the Corona pandemic, , helping to reduce the population in public places and social distancing was the main reason for many decisions of the National Corona Headquarters such as closing some places. Unfortunately, in the capital and many metropolises, we see crowds and the presence of people in the public transportation networks, such as buses and subways, which must be solved by increasing the number of buses and intercity train wagons.
The First Vice President emphasized the use of the power and capacity of domestic companies in the production and reconstruction of public transportation. Also, he said:” using China’s $ 2 billion funding, which the government has authorized to build train wagons, is seen as an effective way to solve current problems.”
Jahangiri also called on the Ministries of Interior and Industry, Mines and Trade, and the Planning and Budget Organization to speed up the process of rebuilding more than 7,000 buses, some of which were funded by the government.
